Winter Concert – Marius Petipas' last true masterpiece, Raymonda

Music by: Alexander Glazunov. It is a summation of Russian classical ballet established by the French-Russian choreographer though its complete version is rarely performed today even by world standards. Each act is full of variations displaying the essence of ballet techniques, and the second act is characterized by powerful dance scenes filled with exotic charm. Dancers participating in the Variation/Repertory classes will learn Raymonda .

City Ballet of Iowa, and Iowa Ballet Theatre will feature world-renowned guest and resident choreographers that have received critical acclaim and prizes for original work around the globe. Valuing past masterpieces but with an eye on the future, Iowa Ballet Theatre plans to present a repertoire of classical ballets such as Giselle, The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Coppelia and Don Quixote as well as an annual Contemporary/Classical repertoire evening that presents new works by some of the nation's most sought-after choreographers.

Iowa Ballet Theatre aspires to be a beacon of artistic excellence in the Johnson County area, simultaneously attracting the best in professional dance to its home while sending its own dancers out as artistic ambassadors to the nation.

The company plans to establish and maintain a performance season that extends from Fall through Spring.
